Classes offered:
How many people are in your family tree? Do you want to find more? No matter how full or empty your tree is we have a class for you:
  • 1.     Capturing and Telling Family Stories – 
      • Did you know that you are somebody’s ancestor and that your story will be important to them? Come learn some of the best ways to tell the stories of your life and to leave your legacy to your decedents.

    1. Memories (Photos, Documents, and Social Media) -
      • Do you have thousands of photos?  What do you do with cassette or reel-to-reel recordings of grandpa playing the harmonica? Can I move a photo from Facebook to FamilySearch?   Come learn some of the tools and techniques that are free at FamilySearch.org to organize your life and records.

    1. Basic Research – 
      • Are you ready to start delving deeper into your line but do not know where to start? Come learn some of the genealogical research tools and techniques that are free at FamilySearch.org.

    1. Next-Level Research – 
      • Are you more than a rookie to Family History and Genealogy? Come learn the next level techniques, hints and tools.  Think of this as FamilySearch.org 2.0.

    1. Empty tree – very basic family history work, focused on living memory – a guide for beginners with few names in the tree – 
      • When you sign on to  FamilySearch,  are there no names in the tree?  Are you the only person you know of doing family history work on your lines?   Discover how to start to build your tree by adding those closest to you.  We’ll help you capture your memories and then take you to a computer and enter them into the tree.
     
    6.     Full Tree – 
    o   When you open FamilySearch.com do you have almost every spot filled. If you have a full family tree and do not know what to do next, this session will help you know how to add names to your family tree.


    7.     Using smart phone apps – 
      • Did you know that 95% of everything you can do on FamilySearch can also be done on your mobile device? Come learn how to use the amazing family history apps.

    8.     Family History Activities for families (and for individuals) – including Sabbath-friendly Family History – 
      • Are you looking for fun, spirit-filled ways to put the family in family history?  This class will give you ideas to use on the sabbath, for family home evening, and in everyday life.

    1. Using Partners – 
      • Websites such as Ancestry.com, FindMyPast.com and MyHeritage.com have their own records and resources that will help you to further your genealogical research. Attend this class and learn some of the basics of the three major partners, plus newer partners like Geneanet. And by the way, they are all free to members of the church.

    1. Indexing in the Cyber CafĂ© – 
      • You’ve never done indexing, but you’d like to know how?  Try indexing in this helpful, hands-on environment.  Try it for 5 minutes or stay for the whole 3 hours!
